Long before the fold-down collar became the norm, the banded collar shirt was the mark of a well-dressed man. Since the mid-19th century, detachable collars were the solution to a practical problem — starching and cleaning white collars was a laborious affair, so buttons were added to shirts to make collars easily removable. The tradition held strong through the 1940s, and Pike Brothers revives it with the 1923 Buccanoy Shirt in Wicklow Green.
True to the original design, you can attach a stand-up collar to this shirt — making it equally at home at a formal occasion or worn open as a refined everyday piece. Woven from 100% Irish linen at 185 g/sqm, it's breathable, structured, and only gets better with age. The slim fit and button front keep it sharp, while the Wicklow Green colorway adds a distinctly earthy, heritage edge.
