The polo shirt has its origins in the early 20th century and was originally developed for tennis. A French tennis pro in the 1920s designed a short-sleeved, comfortable shirt made of breathable cotton piqué that offered more freedom of movement than the long-sleeved shirts that were common at the time. Although it was intended for tennis, it quickly became popular, especially for polo. The polo shirt made its triumphant entry into the fashion world in the 1950s thanks to various Hollywood stars and the preppy style.
Our 1963 polo shirt comes from precisely this era and is both casual and elegant without losing its sporty origins. The waffle fabric we use is non-slip and comfortable to wear.
